ANNUAL REPORT

2020

Director's Message

The year 2020 is perhaps known for the most abrupt global changes in our lives brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. Suddenly, almost all our processes were adjusted in order to address the different challenges, especially those pertaining to learning and welfare of everyone. There was no other option that our government could choose but to declare a Public Health Emergency which resulted in stay at home orders.

Schools were closed to ensure teachers and learners were safe. Pisay Caraga through its Management Committee decided on the immediate adjustments and resources to be invested in order to continue the classes online and delivery of services amidst the threat of the virus. Our teachers and non-teaching staff immediately underwent online training as part of the rapid internal response. A survey was immediately made to determine the connectivity and other issues. We acknowledge the hard work that the CID, SSD and FAD staff have to endure in those very challenging times. We commend the leadership of their respective Division Chiefs, Ms. Gretchen Mae B. Empuesto, Ms. Jasmine S. Gumapac and Ms. Charity S. Romano.

The Management Committee thanks all partners for the support and understanding in the changes necessary to ensure the scholars’ welfare are addressed. We commend the scholars for their cooperation and the parents with GPTA President Mr. Dexter G. Soberano for their continued support at home when their kids were learning remotely. Despite a different set up, the scholars were still able to participate and even excelled in online competitions, an unexpected silver lining. Read more...

CID Chief's Message

The School Year 2020-2021 is undeniably like never before. The Curriculum and Instruction Division (CID) had been matched with many challenges as teachers and scholars hurdled the paradigm shifts demanded by remote and blended learning. During the pandemic, our dedication, adaptability, and patience were tested in ways we could never imagine but teachers faced all these head-on, embraced new learning management systems, and devised innovative means in implementing the curriculum from a distance. The CID not only endured and survived the pandemic, but also turned difficulties into opportunities to uphold excellent service by developing innovations such as the CID Online which created a smarter, better coordinated, and more equitable monitoring system that is efficient and consequential for the scholars, teachers, and parents from then onward.

In this new normal, I am truly grateful to the parents of our scholars for working hand-in-hand with us in executing classhomes—classrooms at home and ensuring that learning still continues among our scholars. I am proud of the academic affairs office for conducting a series of capacity-building activities for teachers to be equipped in managing their classes remotely. Even with the abrupt shift, the implementation of the curriculum advanced with minimal interruptions. The student affairs office leveled off through the utilization of technology tools and communication channels to ensure that scholars were kept informed of the opportunities to participate in international, national, and local competitions where scholars were provided with adequate support through their coaches. SSD Chief's Message

Philippine Science High School – Caraga Region Campus continues to thrive in one of the most challenging years in the history. As everyone fights the COVID-19 pandemic, Pisay Caraga also remained resilient to all the changes brought about by the prevalent virus. As Michael Rutter once said, resilience is the ability to bounce back from life’s challenges and unforeseen difficulties.

The Student Services Division strived to adapt to these changes. Work arrangements were implemented and followed in accordance with IATF and the City Government of Butuan. Technology was maximized through having training-workshops to capacitate the staff on adapting and embracing digital transformation in order to continually provide support in this time of adversity. The staff also contributed during the call for donations and services of Pisay Caraga to the vulnerable sectors and the frontliners during the COVID-19 pandemic through the Pisayuda initiatives. FAD Chief's Message

As the Finance and Administration Head of Philippine Science High School-Caraga Region Campus, I am pleased to present to you our annual report for the school year 2020. This year has been like no other, as the world faced the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, I am proud to say that our school has continued to provide service excellence to our students and their families.

One of the most significant ways in which we have continued to provide service excellence is through our commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff. We have implemented strict health and safety protocols, such as temperature checks and regular sanitization of our facilities, to help prevent the spread of the virus. Additionally, we have been able to continue providing high-quality education to our students through our transition to remote learning.

Another way in which we have continued to provide service excellence is through our focus on financial stability and transparency. Despite the economic impact of the pandemic, we have been able to maintain our strong financial position by closely managing our expenses and making difficult but necessary decisions. We have also continued to be transparent with our financial information, so the school community can understand our financial situation. Read more...
