The Biology Teachers Association of the Philippines, Inc. is a registered non-stock, non-profit organization established to promote the science of BIOLOGY in all its branches. As one of the largest professional organizations with regional and active members all over the Philippines, the organization is involved in enhancing biology education. The organization aims to improve the education in our country by encouraging our students to embrace the science of life that makes things work together in preserving the future. One of the association’s programs is the annual regional/national convention which we recently had. The first day was full of engaging topics. One of which was the talk about “Shifting hygiene hypothesis to Microbiota Dysbiosis: Understanding the immunopathogenesis of allergies” by John Donnie A. Ramos, PhD and BIOTA National President. Another interesting lecture was given by Ma. Cristana S. De Las Llagas, PhD about “Exploring Basic Cell and Molecular Biology: Models for Cytotoxicity and Inflammatory Investigatory reseach”. In the afternoon was a very interesting workshop on smartphone applications for upgrading Molecular Biology teaching.
